From October 2008 through March 2009, the Foundation for Effective Governance developed a system of anti-crisis measures for some economic sectors of Ukraine. The project included a research of crisis effects on every sector of the national economy and development of the system of anti-crisis measures to be taken by the Government.
The anti-crisis project includes such vital industries as finance, metallurgy and construction. Within the project the Foundation cooperated with all branches of power: the Parliament, Government, National Bank of Ukraine, Secretariat of the President and National Security and Defense Council. The Foundation discussed the anti-crisis measures with the representatives of the World Bank, International Monetary Fund, and International Finance Corporation. The top objective was to develop and adopt a number of measures that can mitigate negative crisis effects on the national economy.
The Foundation presented the analysis of economic situation in Ukraine and support recommendations for two industries - metallurgy and construction – at the parliamentary hearings organized by the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Economic Policy on 18 February 2009.
