The Foundation for Effective Governance established by Rinat Akhmetov Presents Ukraine’s Economic Development Agenda

”Only an increase in the nation’s economic productivity can drive Ukraine's sustainable economic development. To reach this objective the country should eliminate all barriers which would prevent both the development of competitiveness and best practices entering the domestic market”. Ms Nataliya Izosimova, Director for the Foundation for Effective Governance, made this statement at the presentation of Ukraine’s Economic Development Agenda drawn up by the Foundation in cooperation with the leading Ukrainian and international experts. "This document is an integrated viewpoint of the priority areas for the country’s economic development over the next five years. We've taken efforts to collect all best practices and added a systemic approach, strict economic focus and practicality," the Foundation's Director stressed.

Ukraine's Economic Development Agenda envisages that the main focus will be on the operation of the basic elements of a market economy and creation of a favorable environment for the development of businesses and industries that are important for the country's economy. The Agenda covers 23 areas where reforms can have the most signification impact on Ukraine’s economy. For the full text of the Agenda please visit our website http://www.feg.org.ua.

This presentation is the first step taken by the Foundation to facilitate a systemic discussion involving policy-makers on all levels, including representatives of large international and Ukrainian non-governmental organizations, business, experts and academic communities, and the media. The Foundation hopes that such a wide and open debate will result in an agreed Economic Development Agenda which is required to achieve the goal of significantly improving the living standards of each Ukrainian citizen.

“I am most interested to see that talks about reforms are replaced with realization of reforms. But to carry out reforms successfully, we need a program and a strategy. The best independent experts put their minds to the presented Agenda. My role is simple – to provide funding and not to interfere,” Rinat Akhmetov the Foundation’s founder emphasized.
